Do you want to play music but aren’t sure how to get started?

Or is too much money for now?

Advance the Music wants to help.

Mountain Dulcimer, by gurdonark from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Dulcimercilp.jpg

Have you ever seen or heard a mountain dulcimer? It’s a great starter instrument. It works for most kinds of music, including folk, blues, and rock.

It leaves out some notes that a piano would have, so the note you’re playing sounds good – and if not, the next note over will sound better!

To get started, Advance the Music is helping in several ways:

  • We’re finding teachers who will give discounted lessons to young people (in person or by video).
  • We’re finding players who have a spare instrument they’re willing to share with a teacher or child.
  • We’re hoping to get clubs to run summer music camp sessions.
  • We can connect you to dulcimer clubs, videos to learn from, and other resources.

How do you get started? Parents: Sign up with your email address, and let us know what you need! We’ll get in touch and do what we can.
